Established in 1953, Ayrshire Equitation Centre has been providing the highest standard of horsemanship for over 60 years. The Centre which has always been family run was originally started by John Galbraith and based at Castlehill Stables in Ayr, where for 43 years we proved to be exceedingly popular enabling our business to grow and allowing us to establish ourselves as one of the most prestigious yards in Ayrshire.
In 1996 it was the decision of John’s son Kevin to relocate the centre to a purpose-built facility on the outskirts of Ayr, where the Centre has been based ever since. Today the yard is still run by John’s son Kevin, his wife Lisa and their two children Elliot and Caitlin. Together the family share a real passion for horses and are dedicated to providing clients with a professional service and enjoyable experience.
As a family we work hard with our fantastic team members to look after every client no matter what their needs are, and of course we have some help from our fantastic riding school horses.
Danny is 14.2hh and also known as Mr Reliable, he has a lovely genuine nature and is very laid back about life. He is a super confidence giver for nervous or inexperienced riders.
Max is a slightly taller version of Danny at 15hh. As well as looking very similar to Danny, he also has the same easy-going nature. Nothing phases Max, he has plenty of Dressage and Jumping experience making him a super horse to learn the ropes on.
Pepsi is a little unusual looking, but he has very genuine and sensible nature. He is 14hh and is a fun and responsive pony who always tries hard. He is a super all-rounder and great step up from some of our more laid-back ponies.
Rowan is our Dressage Schoolmaster. At 15hh she is a super height for both adults and children to learn the basics and more advanced work on. She loves her work and is an absolute sweetheart who always tries hard for her riders.
Bracken is 14.2hh and will turn his hoof to anything asked of him. He has an honest and easy going nature and is very forgiving. He loves hacking and cross – country schooling and when he’s not working, he can be found causing mischief in the field.
Echo has been with us since she was 3 years old and is one of our longest standing school ponies. She is 15.2hh and can do everything from pull carriages, to dressage and jumping. She is a very sweet mare who is a firm favourite with both riding school and RDA clients.
Penelope is our tallest riding school horse at 16hh. Despite being a chestnut mare, she has a bold and genuine honest nature and really tries hard. She is a super all-rounder who will look after you and is ideal for taller adults and teenagers.
At only 13hh Molly is one of our smallest riding school ponies. She has a very quiet and sensible nature which makes her ideal for younger children to learn on and will happily work both on and off the lead rein.
Ex Police Horse Jura is 15.2hh and as you can imagine has the best most willing nature. She enjoys her work and no matter what it is she will always try hard to please you. Jura is used to being ridden by all levels of riders from beginners to more advanced riders, children and adults.
Just like the Frozen Princess Elsa is very pretty and loved by all. She is one of our newest riding school ponies and at 13.2hh and will easily carry a child or small adult. She is very sweet and willing with super attitude nothing seems to phase her.
